LIGHT, WITNESSING, ANNIHILATION
The Wanderer
As the sun sets gracefully on the limitless wheat field,
The moon rises slowly into the starry night sky,
The wanderer looks up to see the ravens as they fly,
The birds’ flight was a warning he felt he should heed.
So fast they were gone and all that was left was a star,
One that felt so close that he reached out with his hand,
To touch that undiscovered beauty and be able to pretend,
That his hand was untarnished and his presence did not mar.
When he got too close, the star said “Peace, wanderer!
Fear not my voice and come a bit closer,
Your sullen demeanor speaks so loud,
Your bright heart is a beacon in the crowd,
Forgiveness you seek, and forgiven you shall be,
If you pursue this path that I will make you see,
Follow my light, O resilient wanderer,
Remembrance shall be your unbreachable armor,
Purify your soul and let go of every hindrance,
Only then can you soar high to The Presence.”
The wanderer then sat quiet and enamored,
For the star was shining still, drawing closer
The sun had set but the star was brighter
So bright, the wanderer’s surroundings shattered.
