Fount of All Lights

O You Who have taken me by my very hand,

O Light of my heart, O Guide to my rest,
O You Who bore the confusion held within my eyes.

I came to You, broken-winged and utterly scattered,
And You, without hesitation, gathered my fragmented self.

I cried out in the desolate, bewildering maze, screaming,
And You answered me with Your treasured, hidden Speech.

O my Master, O Secret of the Light of the Knowers,
O Qibla for the ardent lovers and all who yearn in love.

I could perceive no escape in my own darkness,
Until You arrived with Your gentle, indwelling Light.

You grasped my palm when my steps grew constrained,
And You quenched my thirst from the Fount of Divine Empowerment.

Though all of mankind might forsake me, You were ever near,
Closer indeed to my soul than my very life-veins.

You are the One Who, in every state, is a soothing balm,
Mending all agonies with Your most tender compassion.

O You Whose loving tenderness, like the merciful clouds, arrives
And seeps into my heart like ever-flowing spring waters.

Truly, I love You, O Inheritor of Muhammad's grace,
A love that overflows from the deepest, hidden chambers of my soul.

So take me, then, as a devoted servant within Your boundless sanctuary, evermore,
O Fount of All Lights and Ultimate Clarification!
